Oh noes! Gnomes are attacking!

082005-01

Well, a couple of days ago I decided to work on a mage. I made an uber gnome mage called Conjurus. I wont lie: it’s not as easy as some may think, having low hp and armor, but I can kill things hella fast and there are some very nice things that mages can do! I’m enjoying playing him so far. As I’m writing this, this is the current status on my alts: Conjurus (Mage) is 20 and Gahlok (Druid) is 47. Conjurus is leveling nicely on instances, I’m trying to make some Deadmines runs, then eventually I’ll move to another area. I’ll admit that my mage looks like a hippie :P

About Frostbolt.com, some of you may have noticed that the site was down for two days or so. I don’t have a lot of information about what happened so far, I only know they had some issues with the datacenter they are and, well, thanks God they make daily backups on my sites :D I’m still waiting to receive an insight of what happened, tho. I apologize for the downtime, I couldn’t do anything at all but to sit and wait until the provider could put things up.

On a sidenote, tonight I was going to make another run to Deadmines. We gathered a group and there was this 23 Rogue named Rikki or Rikke, something like that. Just when we were entering the instance someone yelled “there’s spot for one more in our group!”, the group was leaded by a 51 mage… the rogue left us and joined them. I got upset because how you are going to join and then leave just because the other group has more firepower? She was going for some sword that Van Cleef dropped, so I got kinda tickled and decided to bring my 60 Rogue since we couldn’t get the last member and I really hate having to wait: guess what? the sword dropped on our side :P By the way, don’t party with some lowbie female lock named Meredia (or similar name). She’s a ninja looter, too sad for someone at that level.

Oh, one last thing. For a while my client has been slow and when I wanted to logout the it took a bit more than usual. I asked support (WoW Forums, Mac Support Area) and I was told to take out all addons to see if I noticed a difference. My framerate went from something like 5~10 to 10~15, sometimes even 20 FPS !!!! I still lag, tho, but it would seem that not as much as before. I had a bunch of addons :P Now I have to get used to the plain life of WoW’s client… addons were so damn nice /cry

Ka-ka-ka-ka-booom!

Well, random things that have happened since my last post (or even before my last post).

Thanks to Thad, Zeezee, Nocturnal and TwoDragons, I’ve been able to get my brother an Arcanite Reaper

When I grow up…

/rant

Most players wonder how it will be when they reach the highest level of a game. I decided to rant about it for something that happened yesterday. Someone I know from another game (Lineage), Pyroxene, wrote something that is true (read here). When you reach level 60, in World of Warcraft, experience is nothing, and all goes about money, if you are the type of people that buys stuff, and items, which are most of us that want to improve.

So, at 60 you are only left to make high level instances, such as Scholomance, Stratholme, Dire Maul, Blackrock Spire, etc. These instances are fun, and in a way they are when you go for a goal: I did Scholomance for almost a month, nonstop, to complete my class set (Shadowcraft Armor Set). For a couple of months I’ve also been doing Molten Core and Onyxia, with the Syndicate. I wonder why everyone wants to go to Molten Core and/or Onyxia: maybe for the epic items, which are pretty neat, maybe for the adventure. What most people don’t know is that two bosses can take up to four-six hours straight, and before each encounter there’s like 30 minutes planning which can get pretty boring. You have to go knowing that there are very slim chances of comming out with anything, but a bill for repairs. Both Raid Instances (Molten Core and Onyxia) need fourty people, which isn’t easy to gather unless you have an uber guild with lots of “quantity” people. It took me months to complete my Shadowcraft Set, imagine how long it would take to complete an Epic Set. A new instance is comming out, less amount of people needed for raid, tho.

I really don’t know. I said last night in guild that I would never ever go back to Molten Core. Being a Mac User and not having Teamspeak sucks, even tho there’s comunication by chat, it’s not the same speaking than writing. It’s really frustrating when people is doing something and you don’t have a clue about what’s going on, tho. I’ve heard stories of people on other servers, fellow Mac Users, being kicked off their guilds because they don’t have TS. I’ve never feared it, tho, because Arsenal is not that kind of guild, but still, we are getting into a point that TS is getting essential for almost anything.

So, lets say instances is not for you. Lets talk about PvP. The current PvP system involves killing and killing everyday, if not you lose your rank. With recent changes, items acquired by the PvP system are not lost if you lose a rank, but you have to kill plenty people and gain a lot of Contribution Points to go up. The graphic lag.. ugly… ugly.

Why am I writing this? I don’t know. I’m currently in a point that instancing, on my rogue (60 Night Elf) is not desireable (spelling?). I’ve gotten all what I’ve wanted from normal instances, I could improve my items in Molten Core and Onyxia, but heck, takes too long and it’s not as easy as some may think. I had a goal on Shadowcraft, now I don’t have any goal. Leveling druid is, comforting, to a point. It’s nice, but when I begin thinking what will happen when he reaches 60… maybe the same story. Hopefully Blizzard will find a way to “fix” how things are going. I’m not bored, yet, but if we keep going, I’ll prolly get bored soon.

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for about seven months. Quitting? Naw! I just felt like writing this. There are a few new things comming up in the next big patch, a new Battlegrounds and another raid instance. Things in Mal’Ganis are the same: horde ratio is 3:1 versus Alliance.

Nerf Shamans!
