Last night we went into Ahn’Qiraj with the purpose of clearing up the trash and practice C’Thun. Guess what? We [Ex Umbra] were able to successfully go to Phase 2, and we got there like two or three times ^_^ It was such a blast.
Here is a bit of theory (copied from the link provided before), for those that don’t know about the encounter.
Phase 1
The initial phase of the C’thun encounter, characterized by an alternation between the Eye shooting Eye Beams for 50 seconds followed by 35 seconds of Dark Glare (detailed below) as well as periodic spawning of mind flay eyes and claw tentacles.
When first entering combat, the best strategy is to allow a tank (one with a good amount of NR preferably) to be shielded and enter alone. When he is struck with the first eye beam, it is safe for 3 seconds to enter and spread out the rest of the raid. In early C’thun attempts where the raid entered together, half the raid could be killed with the first eye beam.
Phase 2
Begins immediately upon bringing the Eye of C’Thun to 0%. If no tentacle is alive, players are taken out of combat and are encouraged to drink during the transistion. During this phase, C’thun has a shield which drastically reduces all damage to almost nothing. In order to bring the shield down and damage him, players must engage the stomach from inside.
In my opinion, once you get the grip in Phase 1, it’s fairly easy (and when we used to get to Phase 2, we had very, very few people dead).
Inside the stomach (Phase 2) there’s some really nasty dot, lol. I died a couple of seconds later I took the screenshot; we were able to kill those tentacles, but I didn’t notice what I had was a DoT, for some reason I always thought that you don’t get damage inside unless you were in the green water.
It may be too early to say, but we will probably take down C’Thun next week (or the week after the next one) ^_^
Just as an additional info, at this time, only three guilds in Mal’Ganis have been able to take down C’Thun, since it was introduced into the server. Two of these three guilds are horde (Elitist Jerks and Aeternus), while only one is alliance (Validus). With this being said, up to now, there are also six guilds working on C’Thun: three alliance (Ex Umbra, LoH, Advent) and three horde (Extreme, Sword of Storms, Shining Force). This info is taken from this thread, it may not be 100% accurate.

Yeah, but when I posted they weren’t in the server.
As reference, Retribution and Sold Out are two of the six or so guilds that transferred from Arthas Server to Mal’Ganis.
