Patch 1.12: Drums of War

Yesterday Patch 1.12 (Drums of War) went live in US-Servers, and after last night, there were some things I really liked about the patch (some of them):

  • Honorable Kills now diminish at a rate 10% per kill rather than 25% per kill.
  • V key functionality has been improved in several ways.
    1. V key now shows summoned monsters (such as the gargoyles in Stratholme.)
    2. V key now shows both monsters and player enemies.
    3. V now shows enemies only (no longer shows friendly targets.)
    4. Shift-V now shows friendly targets only, not enemies (with a new bindable hotkey.)
    5. Control-V shows both friendly targets and enemy targets (with a new bindable hotkey.)
  • There is now an option to turn on the display of your own name above your head. You can find the option in the interface options screen.
  • The player inspect range has been increased to 10 yards.
  • New API Functions.
  • Neutral guards are now able to see through the rogue Vanish ability.

The things I didn’t like (some of them):

  • Due to significant talent changes, Rogues will have all talent points refunded and can be re-spent. Training costs for all talent spell replacements have been significantly reduced.
  • The options screen has be redone and expanded due to space required for additional options. Also the location of various options has been changed in the options screen. They should make more sense now, though they will not be in quite the place you remember them being.

The rogue review is good, but it’s going to be a pain to get a new spec, lol. Here’s a screenshot of the new Interface Options, the thing I don’t like is that it blocks all the screen (compared to other options).

But not everything was cool last night…

082306-02

Servers had issues almost the whole night (with a couple of other servers having the same issue), after they came up it crashed three or so times, we got kicked before and while we were doing Ahn’Qiraj, which was rather stressful.

Not to mention the latency…

082306-04

Because we started late and kept being interrupted (all because of server issues), we weren’t able to make as much as we wanted last night

[item]Amulet of Foul Warding[/item] — Skeram
[item]Beetle Scaled Wristguards[/item] — Skeram
[item]Robes of the Battleguard[/item] — Sartura
[item]Thick Qirajihide Belt[/item] — Sartura

One more [item]Qiraji Lord’s Insignia[/item] and I’ll reach Revered with Brood of Nozdormu (right now @ 11609/12000) ^_^

Patch 1.12 is a very good patch, addons work awesome (like CT_RaidAssist), since you don’t have to broadcast and stuff like that. ScrollingCombatText got updated with some nice options as well. A recap of those addons that I use that have been updated so far (as I’m writing this, not going to keep an updated list, tho):

CT_RaidAssist v.1.54
Natur EnemyCastBar v.5.0.0
Pe rl Classic Unit Frames v.0.78
Decursive continued v.1.9.8.RC2
UseByName v.12
ScrollingCombatText v.5.0

Sulfuras, Hand of Dany

Notice: I’ve changed the structure of the perma-links on my blog. Even tho the old links will still work, I would advice those linking the guides on this site to update the links: Fishin’ Ain’t for Wimps and Druid Uber Healing Guide. For those that read my blog thru a RSS feed, please update the rss link as well. Sorry for the trouble.

What do we get when we mix an [item]Eye of Sulfuras[/item] and a [item]Sulfuron Hammer[/item]?

Oh my God… It’s a [item]Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros[/item]! Somehow I believe that most things happen for a reason. Last weekend we had slight issues in Molten Core, and people in WoW Forums were trolling us because of that. Not like we care at all, but it was kinda ironic (and funny, at the same time) because last night, when we could finish MC (Domo/Rag), we could get that legendary mace, lol. Big congratulations to Dany, the pimp owner ^_^ It’s the first [item]Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros[/item] that Totem Recall gets ^_^ Thanks to all the fans for making it possible ^_^

You know, it was very nice last night. After the [item]Eye of Sulfuras[/item] dropped, you had to see all of us in vent: everyone trying to help on the mats so the mace would get done by the end of the night. We were able to gather it all and Nogard helped us crafting the [item]Sulfuron Hammer[/item].

And something very interesting happened before I logged out…

Ysondre and Taerar. Some of our units got into Duskwood first for Ysondre and some other guild tapped the dragon Q.Q… Then we headed to Ashenvale for Taerar, cleared the mobs and worked on him. It was the very first time I see any of those dragons, and even tho we couldn’t kill Taerar, we got his health all the way to 1/4, and most important:

• Hardly anyone had experience on him [Taerar] (I never ever tried any of these dragons).
• We only had around 20 members in the raid (it wasn’t a raiding night so most of the core people wasn’t on), not all were raiders and/or were equipped.
• The composition of the raid was probably not the best (one priest, not enough tanks, etc.)

The other two guilds waiting when we were on the encounter had almost a full raid (one 35 members and the other one 38). What can I say, we could have take him down. I still think that it was impressive of us to take him to the point we did. Maybe next time ;)

A funny note was that during the encounter, when the other two guilds started to gather behind us, they were just standing around the little mountains that were in the area. When we were about to wipe (on the last split), we all laughed because the three shades headed to where the other two guilds were, lololol.
