Peaceful days~

I haven’t updated for a while >_<

Lately things are going rather nicely. For the second week (in a row) we are able to fully clear Hyjal and Black Temple in just two days, which is nice because the other 3 days that we usually raid (we raid a total of 5 days) are almost semi-break days, for now.

We usually fully clear Hyjal and do the first four BT bosses in one day, and the rest in the second day.

That being said, the second time we killed Illidan (a couple of weeks ago) was lucky because we got the other pair of the legendary (Warglaive of Azzinoth), now Goofball is the second one in the Alliance (Mal’Ganis-US Server) to have a full legendary set.

Also last night I managed to get 4/5 Tier 6 (which was Thunderheart Pauldrons), now only missing the pants from Council (Thunderheart Leggings).

I discovered your blog a week or so ago, and have been reading through it from day one and just this minute finished.

Superb stuff, I joined wow post-TBC, so your adventures brought a lot of clarity to what it was like to play the original endgame.

I can now put forstbolt on RSS and look forward to your adventures in Sunwell soon!

(oh and I’ll pop a link on my own WP blog http://bitchaboutit.org/ (not a wow blog)

Gahlon, treat blog, quick question though, did Goofball get lucky enough win rolls for the glaives both times, or as an officer did he get preference, and once he had one it made sense to let him have both as a set? I’ve been playing WoW for about 6 months now and am nowhere near the instances/raids you are at, so I’m a curious. Thanks!

@Joel: We work under a loot-council method, in other words, everything that drops is discussed by officers and there are some factors that affect who gets it, as in attendance, previous loots and such.

In that way, Goofball got the shot for the first one mainly because he’s one of the originals (the 3 -or so?- original Pro Baddies that helped rebuild the guild) and he has been active even before I joined. Being an officer didn’t have anything to do with it (and I am not really sure if he was an officer when it dropped, don’t remember).

I really doubt people would allow rolls on Legendary drops. I wasn’t there when the second piece dropped but I guess he got it because it was the second part he needed to complete.

    Gahlok,

Thank you for the concise reponse. Never thought about it (as I’m not close to the opportunity) but rolling for Legendary items would be kinda nuts. So know to you just focus on getting a complete set of top level gear? After that, what next? Just curious if you would keep raiding at that level to get your guild all geared out, or if you are considering rolling a new toon. Great blog, keep up the great work!

@Joel: Only mains are currently being accepted to raid in Hyjal and BT, and so far we don’t plan to change that (at least for now). I also have a couple of alts, but I’ve been kinda lazy to level them (highest is 62 or around there).

There are also a couple more items I still need from Black Temple, which would:

    Shadowmoon Insignia
    Pendant of Titans
    Thunderheart Leggings

At least the drop rate on the first two items are terribly low, hopefully I’ll get them before Sunwell hits live servers T.T

    Hey Gahloc,

I read the Druid Über Healing Guide you wrote in 06 and I have to admit it really is useful even now but some things are outdated (obviously).

What I’m really asking is if you ever made an updated one for BC Version. Or if you could give me some tips on my resto druid for raid healer.

@Rig: Hello. Sadly I haven’t been able to update it. When TBC came my original plan was to remain as Restoration, gaining new experience in the healing field applied to all the new skills and such. Sadly, I only remained Restoration until level 64, and from there on I switched to feral.

After hitting 70, the only time I’ve been Restoration was once, just one day, and I switched back to feral right away: my skills were so rusty I didn’t really feel confident about healing (at least as confident as I was before expansion).

As for tips, don’t really have any, since I don’t got experience on raid healing @ level 70. Of what I’ve seen, it might seem that druids usually use rejuvenation and lifebloom a lot, and then healing touch > regrowth. Doesn’t look like it changes too much vs. level 60 raid healing.
