Ulduar’s current state and some ranting

Has been a while after my last post, the mass bans affected us more than expected (this is taking in mind that after the mass bans incident two raiders of our guild got their accounts hacked), but we’re picking up.

But then, it makes me think, what is Ulduar? If you’ve been checking the updates for the past weeks you’d notice that, after the first week, the instance has been heavily nerfed, so encounters are basically a joke now.

Altho Algalon is not the last boss in Ulduar, unless you do all the hard modes and unlock him, and kill him, there’s no real merit in finishing Ulduar. Keep in mind that after he’s unlock you can only fight him for an hour per week.

While this is nice

Daelo:
Further adjustments are highly likely to some of the other encounters in Ulduar, but these were the highest priority encounters for us. We want to allow additional players to experience more of the cool Ulduar content.

After they took so long to put Ulduar (and all that supposed testing) Ulduar became some sort of tour place?

  • Ulduar 10 man — Easy mode
  • Ulduar 10 man — Hard mode
  • Ulduar 25 man — Easy mode
  • Ulduar 25 man — Hard mode

Heroic instances come to your mind? Having an heroic inside an heroic instance… that’s a nice new concept. Before Ulduar I don’t recall any instance that has been nerfed as much (and it’s still in nerfing process) as this one; how long until everything is on farm (easy-mode version) and people get bored again?

Daelo:
We’re currently in the process of making further difficulty adjustments via hotfix to the following encounters:

  • Ignis the Furnace Master
  • Razorscale
  • XT-002 Deconstructor
  • The Assembly of Iron
  • Kologarn
  • Auriaya

The difficulty of these encounters is being lowered in multiple ways. Some of the adjustments are live already, others will be live soon. Note that some of the spell tooltips for the encounter will not reflect the hotfixes being deployed until the next patch.

Maybe in the future we will have Raid Easy, Raid Medium, Raid Hard, Rare Legendary; the same thing of the same instance, for extra content; that is what will keep us busy (yeah, repeating the same fights with just “enhanced difficulty”).

It’s somehow dissapointing. I wish they made all those changes in PvP so my feral druid could rank 2k + (and some might say that there are ferals that have been able to do that, but if you compare the ratio with, lets say, Paladins and Death Knights, the story is different).

While I agree that the nerfs went a little bit too far, this just makes sense from a business perspective. They were probably getting reports from cancellations that people had nothing to do back in the “uber hard” raid days. The “hard mode” in an “easy mode” instance idea just makes sense. It really keeps everyone happy.

Truthfully, the only thing I have a complaint with Blizzard about, is the quality of the servers. We can’t raid on Tuesdays anymore (and a couple other days for that matter), because so many guilds are raiding. This has been happening for many many months. You would think they would put a little more money into the servers to keep this from happening, rather than keep sinking money into other things. Customer service needs a complete overhaul at Blizzard imo.

I agree, i also wish the changes were made in PvP, would make life a little easier. And to the other commenter, i know what you mean about Blizzards customer service, has been disapointing lately. Would be great to see it back to where it was a year ago.
