Omgawd, will Blizzard mass-ban your guild?!

We just started our raid group to be able to raid tonight, and some people noticed that the instances that we got locked yesterday, for some reason, got reset today.

So we aren’t sure if we should re-clear the place, because Blizzard might just consider it as an exploit and mass ban?

Here are a couple of screenshots from Ulduar (25M) and Trial of the Crusader (25M), the initial stuff is there (as reference) and the window about the Raid ID is there.

These things make you wonder what is Blizzard doing. This morning they took down a bunch of servers for some hardware reconfiguration:

Greetings!

We will be performing a hardware reconfiguration maintenance for the realms listed below beginning on Wednesday, August 26 at 5:00am PDT. We anticipate these realms will be down until approximately 9:00am PDT.

I took out the servers listed because they were too long, but Mal’Ganis was among them.

Right now we are waiting for a GM to tell us if we can re-clear the stuff that we had cleared already or not. Some people asked others to see if they were experiencing the same (from our server and other servers) and they reported the same thing. Someone also said that we got new instance servers.

The mass ban might sound a bit silly, but knowing Blizzard, they could just say it’s an exploit and just mass ban, so it’s always better play in the safe side.

Edit: There are a couple of forum posts made by players here and here.

Edit 2: Finally an official response:

UPDATE:

Based on the latest information we have available, if your raid has been affected by this issue, but has not yet cleared any foes in your reset instance, then your partially cleared instance should be restored to its former state when the resolution for this issue is implemented.

Hello all!

We are aware of an issue with raid instance resets, and we are investigating the matter as we speak. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that this may have caused, but we hope to have the matter resolved soon. That said, based on the information I have currently available, we are unlikely to be in a position to restore raids to their prior state. As we receive more information, we’ll provide it here.

The affected battlegroups should be as follows (you can locate your battlegroup via the following link):

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/

  • Whirlwind
  • Emberstorm
  • Nightfall
  • Stormstrike

Thank you for your patience as we work to get everything running smoothly again!

This blue text inside that thread was also kinda ironic:

Malkorix:

You’re welcome!

It’s pretty safe to assume that as long as no deliberate or willful exploitation is taking place in this case, that we will not take action against the involved raiders.

being petrified of a mass ban sounds like an itzmurda thought process

Speaking of bugs that could get you banned… We were fighting Algalon last week, and our time ran out, but for some reason someone noticed he didn’t despawn. So we thought… maybe it’s been changed and you get on last “pull” when the time is out, but he despawns if you wipe. Well we pulled him and he didn’t fight back, he just stood there looking stupid and dyeing. We didn’t kill him because, nobody wanted to get banned… but a little part of me wonders what would have happened if we did!
