Back to World of Warcraft…

not! After three months of stopping the World of Warcraft addiction I can say that I haven’t missed the game any single bit, not even when they sent that email saying that I had 7-day credit for accounts that were inactive or something. At this point I can’t really understand why people keeps saying that, after a couple of weeks, or a month, you feel that you need to go back to WoW. Also, in these past months I haven’t jumped to any MMO at all (remember I had plans for Champions Online or Aion?).

I kind of lost the interest on those things, but I gotta say that the information and screenshots that are coming out for Final Fantasy XIV look really nice, it’s probably one of those few games I’m looking forward to play (I never tried the first Final Fantasy MMO, but I heard it was pretty bad, tho).

The good thing is that yesterday I finally got my PS3 Slim 120GB, along with Batman: Arkham Asylum, Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassin’s Creed II, inFAMOUS, God of War: Collection and Valkyria Chronicles, so I’ll probably be busy for a while. ^^

That first final fantasy mmo was soooo bad.
I think everyone is expecting a lot out of the new one.

I’ve played Final Fantasy 7 through 10-2, then stopped, mainly because of WoW and how boring X-2 was. Never got into 11, however I agree the screen shots look very nice.

I’m thinking I’m going to have to switch MMOs, seeing as i was just hit by the latest banwave. Fail on my part, i assume.

Yeah I kind of goes through those phases too where I quit for a while and come back or quit and try another game for a while. I heard the new Final Fantasy is supposed to be great but I have never been into Final Fantasy. I did not know however that the new one is a MMO, so if it is, I might give it a shot :)

I’ve had the opposite, every time I’ve tried to quit wow I come back to it, I don’t play as much as I used to but I still play casually and It’s much more fun casually imo.

MMORPGs are very habitual and I think once you break the habit, you realise that you didn’t really need it in the first place. There’s definitely a point in our play experience were we switch from just enjoying a game to it becoming part of our daily lives. Sometimes just walking away can be very liberating.

Ah man, Final Fantasy XIV does look good indeed, I may give it a whirl..

Well, taking a break is good, if you don’t feel like coming back, that’s great! You shouldn’t push yourself to come back to a game you don’t have any motivation to play, it’s all about fun and if you don’t enjoy it then it’s not for you :)

    Hey,

So good you quitted WoW for good, although I see you use good “nicotine patches” as a replacement: Arkham Asylum, Assassins Creed II (I just love this one!!), pretty good stuff indeed!!

As for getting back to WoW, I guess it is mainly due to the social factor, if you meet people in there and get used to “hang around” with them, eventually you might miss them. I had little trouble quitting the game, since I never got too attached to continuous internal guild fights and unsuccessful attempts to raid…

Ohm, btw, I just made a comic about people who happens to have trouble to distinguish virtual and real life, in case you want to check it out and comment on it:

Well I’m nowhere near getting bored with Warcraft yet. I’ve only been playing a month, so it’s probably a way off that I decide to quit :-)

I played WoW for 3 years and it started to get to the point I didn’t do anything else significant in my life. I would get addiction like side effects from so much play. And even then it wasn’t like I was playing, it seemed a lot like work. I had to make sure and be there for raid nights, get my character gear and level up my professions. Once I quit I felt like I had so much more time in my day to do other fun things. I still feel the hold the game has on me and am pretty regularly tempted to play, but so far so good. I’ve played for almost 5 years now and all I have to say is that the game has gotten boring. The reason why i have not left yet is because of the friends one makes while playing an online game.

I played FF XI first (the online one) and never got into it even though im a big FF fan. I then move don to WoW and loved it to bits. After a while I realised my WoW addiction was costing me essential food stuffs (im self employed and work from home, so big temptation to fuck work off and play wow there). I was tempted to try out Aion so off I went to Aion and tbh, it sucked. It’s buggy to hell, it has terrible gameplay and PVP during questing is NOT optional. The loot is worthless and the instances rubbish and poorly put together. All in all, i hated it (although the professions bit was fun). So I returned to WoW as i realised just how awesome it is (o.O yeah im fruit loops). However, I’m not able to manage my time a lot better now (go go self control!).

I took a few months away from warcraft last year. I can’t say that I ever had an addiction to the game, but I put in a fair amount of time.

What made me come back and start playing again was sheer gaming boredom. I literally could think of nothing else to play. also the nagging fact that you have invested so much time into characters which are now sitting there unused had a deciding factor.

So I guess you could say I’m mildly addicted?

My biggest hope for FF14 is that it moves away from the pure grind that a lot of FF11 entailed. That really killed the game for me.

I’ve had a bit of a break from playing WOW and am eager to get back to playing it. Had some of the best gaming experiences ever playing WOW. The only problem people find including myself is, that it can take a lot of time to progress through the game, and so you really have to keep watch how much time you spend on it and balance this with real life and make sure things get done.

Couldn’t stand FFXIV. Which is weird because I absolutely loved FFI-XIII.

You should check out post-4.0.3 WoW. It’s quite a nice change – might bring you back to the game.
